As we have moved into a new office building we are looking for a new design of the available three rooms in which an inspiring and productive work will take place.
What is the space for which we need a design?
We have got 3 rooms in total which are the entire top floor of an office building. The biggest of all three is the designated office area with 137.77m2. There we would need to have 7 workplaces of which one shall be a “silent” working space which means, that employees can go there and work on tasks which require high concentration or a silent environment. Thus we were thinking of a glass cube or an otherwise separated working space therefore. The ceiling height of this room is 3m.
The second room (Meeting & Lounge) is 77.82m2 and shall contain a closed meeting room with a table for 6 persons as well as a recreation area/ lounge. Therefore the room has to be divided. Dividers can be set 3.9m from the left as well as from the right windows due to a steel T-bar construction on the ceiling. The ceiling height of this room is 3m.
The third room (Coffee & Kitchen) is only 3.33m by 2.16m and total 7.19m2 big with a ceiling height of 2.25m. This room is used for coffee breaks.
What is its current condition?
Currently all desks are in the second room (Meeting & Lounge) which will be the designated meeting room and lounge room. Further part of the inventory has been already purchased and shall be integrated in the designs. These are the 7 desks with the measurements 2.2m by 1m, the 7 sideboards 0.8m by 0.4m and the 7 chairs. Further we have one bigger sideboard 1.6m by 0.4 and one cupboard 1m by 0.4m.
The picture show the biggest room in its current condition with a wooden floor.
What do we want to achieve?
Since our company is dealing with aluminium we would like to have some components in our new office made of this material. Further we want to create an atmosphere which is inspiring and productive at the same time. Also the lounge section may contain some unconventional items such as a table soccer or an illuminated bar etc.
What should designers absolutely know and consider in their design?
In the biggest room the position of the IT rack cannot be changed. It is located in the middle of the back wall. A cover up for this would be great so it could be hidden.
In the meeting room currently the floor is made out of leather and cannot be changed. As on the picture its base colour is brown.
Further the electrical plug socket in the floor cannot be placed differently in the rooms.
In the dedicated office room the floor should be carpet due to noise reduction reasons.
Is there anything designers should avoid?
