New construction/rehab. We are looking for design assistance in the main living area which includes the lounge, great (living) room, and dining room. PDF of the blueprints are attached.
The floors in the kitchen, lounge, dining room, and office will be a caramel hardwood color. The living room and master bedroom will have a light colored offwhite carpet. The kitchen cabinets will be very dark with a light granite (white) countertop. There will be a very large island with seating in the kitchen with the same color scheme.
Although all open to each other, the kitchen, lounge, dining room, and living room all have different ceiling heights. Kitchen has flat 8 foot, lounge has flat 10 foot, living room has a vaulted ceiling, and the dining room has a trey ceiling. The design in these spaces should complement each other since they are all open to one another, but should also indicate that each is it's own room. We want the space to be very inviting with a lot of opportunities for lounging. The open walls from the dining room and the opening between the lounge and the great room are arched.
The lounge will be for reading and relaxation. Also a space where the kids would play while dinner is getting ready (although their toys will mostly be kept in the playroom basement). The great (living) room is for TV. The dining room should have some sort of buffet.
We like a modern/contemporary look with smooth lines. We generally like neutral colors with accent in fabric or accessories. We also appreciate styles that not only tie color together but also shapes and/or textures. We do not like floral prints or yellow or purple colors. We appreciate furniture with hidden functionality as well. We are often drawn to Crate and Barrel (though not their prices) and have found pieces from Dania in the past that we like.
The design must be child friendly and durable.
We are very visual people so higher quality 3D reconstructions will be very helpful. Similarly a complete product schedule with pricing attached will weigh strongly into the consideration.
