This is a new build, of a small dwelling, single storey, built in the style of an Adirondack lean-to. The building will be free standing, and will be constructed primarily from logs (cedar, or possibly pine) and other high-quality timbers. Overall, the building will be 25'(wide) x 20' (deep) and will have a maximum roof height of approx 10'. It will have an open porch along the whole of the front, probably 6' deep. Behind the porch it will consist of three rooms, an open plan studio 18' wide (and 14' deep, being the 20' depth less the porch). The remaining 7' of width (by 14' deep) will be for a sauna and changing room. The roof will not be a "true" lean to (which just has a single slope to the rear), but I envisage a short pitch over the porch, with the apex running along the line between porch and interior space. I envisage a fall of about 2' to the front and to the rear (ie the slope of the front pitch is steeper than the rear). Between the porch and the interior there should be a floor to ceiling glass wall and doors.
We want to create outline plans and an artist's rendition, with elevations, for preliminary planning consent.
Use of beautiful, sustainable hardwoods and softwoods, including wide-plank flooring, cedar shingle roofing
Inclusion of a pot-belly stove in the main studio room.
